THE CAUSE

This year, Organic Savanna is linking up with the Karibu Centre to raise funds for an exciting new educational initiative in rural Northern Kenya. Planning is already underway for a new school and community project which will empower children from indigenous nomadic tribes.

Our goal is to raise $50,000. These funds will be used for the most critical educational resources needed to serve the community. This includes school supplies, STEM equipment, classroom furnishing and of course wages for skilled and capable teachers.

Our new schoolhouse which includes 2 classrooms and a STEM lab has already been secured in partnership with the Gallmann Trust. The property is located at the edge of an underserved tribal community and is also adjacent to the vast 100,000 acre Ol Ari Nyiro wildlife conservancy.

THE IMPACT

Since Karibu Centre’s inception 10 years ago, there has been an incredible positive impact for underserved young learners. Karibu learners with access to computers and student-focused curriculum have been outperforming their peers by two grade levels and achieving 100% acceptance rates into government schools.

Now Karibu Centre is excited to bring they’re proven educational model to a new community in need. In northern tribal communities access to quality education communities are desperately in need of early education programs:

– 42% of Kenya’s population is under 15 years old
– 40% of Kenyan children (3 to 5 years) are not in school
– Young girls are often kept home from school to marry and raise children
– Boys are often kept from school to raise animals
